Our story

One shop. One job.

Since 1988, Sidewinder has done one thing: mobility equipment and wheelchair accessible vehicles. Not a sideline bolted onto a car dealership.

We were one of the founding members of NMEDA Canada, which accredits accessible vehicle dealers. It accredits five in this province, and we are the only one that also holds a Transport Canada National Safety Mark. The other four sell conversions somebody else built.

Sales, service and the build floor, all in one building.

Manufacturer, not middleman

The conversion is ours.

Most accessible vans sold in Canada are converted somewhere else and shipped in. The Sidewinder RAV is built here.

We can change it

Your chair, the way you get in, who drives. Nothing waits on a factory elsewhere for sign-off.

We stand behind it

The warranty is honoured by the same shop that cut the floor out.

We certify it ourselves

The mark came from Transport Canada, not from us. NMEDA audits the work on top of it.

Credentials

Check every word of it yourself.

The only wheelchair accessible vehicle dealer in BC that is also a Transport Canada authorized vehicle manufacturer. Each credential below links straight to the registry that issued it, so you can confirm every one without taking our word for anything.

  • Transport Canada National Safety Mark L43

Transport Canada authorizes Sidewinder to build and certify disabled access vehicles under National Safety Mark L43, in four classes including Final Stage Body and Equipment. Only four companies in British Columbia hold a disabled access National Safety Mark.

  • NMEDA QAP accredited

Accredited under the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association Quality Assurance Program in three categories: Mobility Equipment Installer, Structural Vehicle Modifier and High Tech driving controls. QAP accreditation requires an independent third party audit every year.

  • Licensed BC motor dealer

Licensed by the Vehicle Sales Authority of British Columbia, dealer licence number 30665.

  • A+ with the Better Business Bureau

Rated A+ by the Better Business Bureau with no complaints on file.

Each date above is when we last checked that credential at the issuer's own source. The links point at the registries themselves rather than at copies of them, so they stay right even when this page falls behind.

How we work

We start with your week.

Where you go. Who drives. What chair you use, and who ends up lifting what at the other end. We don't start with your diagnosis.

That settles the rest: rear or side entry, ramp or lift, buy or rent. We will say when the cheaper van is the right one, and when renting beats buying. Both are smaller sales for us.

In their words

Written by customers.

Quoted exactly as they were written.

Everything was so well organized and smooth it made the transaction completely enjoyable. The people were great, they went over the top for us and the van was exactly what we had hoped it to be.
Harold GoodwinVehicle purchase
Sidewinder went well beyond the service delivery that would be expected. They were always available and prompt whenever we emailed or called. I would recommend them highly to anyone in need of a conversion.

Your gesture is therefore doubly gratifying as it not only helped a most deserving couple in need, but was also a much-needed reminder to me that good people and good business can indeed co-exist.

Contact

Talk to someone who knows these vans.

Come by the shop and bring your chair, or just start with a phone call. Either way you'll be talking to someone who can answer the question instead of taking a message.

A person here reads every one of these. We reply within one business day, Monday to Friday.
