How we handle information you send us through this website.
This covers sidewinderconversions.com: what this website collects, where it goes and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, call us and ask.

What we collect
The only thing on this website that asks you for personal information is the enquiry form. When you send one, we receive:
- Your name and your email address. Both are required.
- Your phone number, which is only required if you have asked us to get back to you by phone.
- Whether you would rather we phoned, emailed, or either.
- What you are enquiring about, and a vehicle or stock number if you gave one.
- Whatever you write in the message box.
- The chair measurements from the fit checker, if you used that tool and pressed the button to send them with your enquiry. Nothing you type into the fit checker leaves your own browser until you press that button.
- Which page of the site you sent it from, so we know what you were reading.
That is the whole list. There are no accounts to create, nothing is sold through this website, and we never ask you for payment details or health records here. If you choose to describe a condition or a chair in the message box, that is your writing and it is stored with the rest of the enquiry.
What happens to it
Your enquiry is saved to our own database the moment it arrives, before we try to email it to anybody. That order is deliberate: if our email provider is having a bad day, your enquiry is still recorded and still gets answered rather than disappearing.
It is then emailed to the Sidewinder staff who handle that kind of enquiry, and it appears in the staff area of this website, which only Sidewinder employees can sign in to. We use it to answer you and to keep track of the conversation. We do not use it for anything else, we do not send marketing you did not ask for, and we do not sell, rent or trade it.
The companies that handle it with us
We are a van shop, not a data centre, so three service providers do the technical work. They hold your information only in order to run this website for us:
- Vercel hosts the website and runs the code that receives your enquiry.
- Supabase hosts the database your enquiry is stored in.
- Resend delivers the email that tells us your enquiry has arrived.
All three operate outside Canada, so your information is stored and processed outside Canada and, while it is there, it can be reached by the law enforcement and courts of those countries. Nobody else is given it.
How long we keep it
There is no automatic deletion. An enquiry stays in our records until somebody at Sidewinder removes it, or until you ask us to. A copy also sits in the inbox of whoever answered you, the same as any other email you might send us, and deleting one does not delete the other. If you want an enquiry gone, say so and we will remove both.
Server records and spam
Our host keeps the ordinary records any web server keeps: the address your device connected from, the page requested and the time. We also count how many enquiries come from one internet address, or from one email address, over a short period, so that an automated script cannot bury us in fake ones. If your enquiry fails to send for a technical reason, its details are written to that record so a person can re-enter it by hand instead of you being lost.
Measuring visits, and cookies
We count page views and clicks on the phone and email links, so we can tell which pages are actually useful. That count records the page address, the page you arrived from and the time. It sets no cookies, it goes to no advertising or analytics company, and it does not identify you.
This website sets one cookie, and only for Sidewinder staff signing in to the staff area. Browsing the site as a visitor sets nothing on your device, which is why you have not been asked to agree to a cookie banner.
Keeping it safe
Everything you send travels over an encrypted connection. The database and the staff area are password protected, staff sign in with their own accounts, and only the people who need an enquiry can open it. No website can promise perfect security, and we are not going to pretend otherwise, but nothing about your enquiry is left lying in the open.
What you can ask us to do
Canadian privacy law gives you the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it if it is wrong, and to ask us to delete it. You can also withdraw your consent to us holding it at all, though if you do that while we are in the middle of quoting or building something for you, we may not be able to finish the job.
Phone or email is enough. You do not need to put it in writing or use any particular wording, and we will not charge you for it.
Children
This website is meant for adults arranging a vehicle, and we do not knowingly collect information from a child through it. If a child has sent us an enquiry, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change what this website collects or where it goes, we change this page at the same time and update the date at the top. The version you are reading is the one that applies.
