Which van

Two ways in. One of them suits your parking spot.

Tell us where you park and who is riding along, and we will tell you which one we would put you in and what we can make available for your dates.

Side entryA ramp folds out of the passenger side onto the kerb. The floor is lowered between the front and rear wheels, so the chair rolls in level and can sit in either front position, including behind the wheel.

Loads from the curb side, puts the chair up beside the driver, and can let you drive from the chair.

Rear entryA ramp comes out of the back of the van and the chair travels up the centre of a lowered channel. Parking needs clear space behind rather than beside, which is why it suits a driveway better than a kerb.

Here is what it costs.

Most places make you phone to find this out. The longer you keep the van, the less each day costs.

Sidewinder's own rate card, June 2025. Subject to availability and to the terms below, and all fees are subject to 12% PST/GST. Call and we'll confirm the rate for your dates.

Every day includes 150 km of driving. After that it is $0.25 a kilometre. What is covered by insurance is confirmed in your written quote, before you pay anything.

Send your dates and a written rate comes back within one business day, Monday to Friday. Nothing is held until you have seen the number and said yes.

Tell us four things

  • The dates you need the van, and roughly how far you're going.
  • Who is driving. You, a family member or a caregiver.
  • Whether the wheelchair user travels in the chair or transfers to a seat.
  • The chair itself: manual or power, and roughly how big and heavy it is.

Rough dates are fine, and a rough idea of the chair is fine. The written quote comes back with the full rental terms.

Pickup

Bring the chair when you come for the van.

Tiedowns are the straps and locks that hold a chair still while the van is moving. It takes a few minutes to set them up for that chair and to show whoever is travelling with you how they work. Tell us about the chair when you enquire and we'll confirm what's in the vehicle before you arrive.

Pick up and drop off at 44658 Yale Road West in Chilliwack, during business hours. Monday – Friday: 8:30am – 4:30pm. Closed Saturday & Sunday, and the same number routes you outside those hours.

Before you book

What to bring, and what it costs if something goes wrong.

What you need to bring

  • A valid driver's licence with at least two years of driving experience, and a credit card.
  • One day's rental fee is taken as a credit card deposit to hold any reservation.
  • The rental period is prepaid in full.
  • One day rentals are weekdays only. Pick up and return happen during business hours.
  • Cancelling within 48 hours of the reservation costs one day's rental.
  • Rentals are for use inside British Columbia only.
  • Every rental vehicle carries a GPS fleet tracking device.

Any age or additional-driver requirement comes back with your written quote, along with the full rental terms, so nothing turns up as a surprise at the counter.

Charges that apply if a rental vehicle is returned late, unclean, without a full tank, or has been smoked or vaped in.

  • Parking tickets, tolls and traffic violations during the rental period are the renter's responsibility and are charged to the credit card, which is kept on file for 60 days after the rental ends.
  • Damage during the rental period is the renter's responsibility, including any applicable insurance deductible and premium.
  • All fees are subject to 12% PST/GST.
  • Other fees, conditions and restrictions may apply. Sidewinder may change these terms at any time without notice.
